The Mela was kicked off on 18 December, 2004, in a unique manner with children releasing balloons in the air. In all, 60 stalls had been set up, the majority being food stalls. There were also articles like dress materials, gems, imitation jewellery, etc. on sale.
Several non-governmental organisations had
also put up stalls. This year we had four NGOs participate in the Mela: the
World Wide Fund for Nature — India, the Bombay Natural History Society, the
Gowseva Parishad and the Deaf Children's Society. Corporate divisions,
including the Garden and Mangrove Departments, also took the opportunity to

There were two added attractions in the games section — the Chalta Bolta Quiz contest by Godrej's Safety Department and one-minute games such as tongue twisters, etc. organised by Lawkim. Everyone participated in the raffle organised by Pragati Kendra. Our special thanks to the Divisional Personnel Heads and the Godrej & Boyce Shramik Sangh for helping us distribute the tickets. Various departments sponsored the prizes for the raffles. We are grateful to all the Divisions who sponsored a variety of gifts. The Appliance Division gifted a refrigerator, the Furniture and Interiors Group, a cupboard, the Locks Division contributed Ultra locks and Cartini products, the Security Equipment Division provided a coffer, the Tool Room gave us gift vouchers, Lawkim sponsored a scholarship for the English Second Language Course, the Hillside Mahila Manch presented a mixer/grinder, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. donated alarm clocks and the Precision and Components Systems supplied games during the Anand Mela. We also thank all the employees concerned for helping the Kendra in making this event a grand success. We hope to have similar support for next year's Mela.
