CHANGE reproduces extracts of an e-mail
dated 28 September, 2004, written by former Godrej employee DHANANJAY
ARADHYE to R.K. Patel, Divisional Personnel Head, Precision Components and
Systems. Dhananjay worked in Godrej’s Tooling Division, Quality Assurance
Department, as a graduate engineer trainee.
Dear Sir,
It has been a little over three months since I left Godrej to join the
Indian Institute of Management — Indore. So far it has been a very good
learning experience. Moreover, yesterday, it was a pleasant trip back to my
days at Godrej & Boyce.
As a part of the guest lecture series here at IIM — Indore, we had Mr. Adi
Godrej address us. It was an extremely informative speech for the students.
But, having worked at Godrej, I was able to internalise the ideas and
concepts communicated to us by Mr. Godrej.
When he outlined the various practices and the culture at Godrej, I relived
some of the intense moments I had at the Company. It was a journey back in
time. Joining Godrej was a very tough journey for me, going to Hyderabad to
attend the interview conducted by the National Institute of Small Industry
Extension Training, and then making it to the shortlist in Mumbai.
Though I was at Godrej for about five months only, it was a unique
experience for me. I am thankful to you for giving me an opportunity to work
at Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. I will strive to put into practice the
ideals and values I learnt at Godrej.
